About Us

Around Thanksgiving in 2012, Rachel Wein was frustrated with the dating scene in Washington, DC and decided to create an online dating profile. She answered a number of questions and was matched with several candidates, but one stuck out to her the most - he was 97% compatible with her and his name was John Ashworth.

Though she didn't want to seem too eager, he was too good to pass up so she wrote a pretty lengthy, but charming and witty message (obviously) to this "Mr. Right." A day went by and she received no response. Then a week. And then a month. The New Year came and went and in late January she had all but given up on this dating site, due to the very strange dates she had been on, and unfortunately...the ultra-compatible but elusive mystery man. She was about to delete her profile when a message popped up in her inbox from none other than him! Rachel was ecstatic of course, but wanted an explanation and found out that John worked in retail so he had just finished holiday hell but out of all the messages he received while he was away, hers was the one he said: "I wish I hadn't missed."

So on a frigid, icy January night Rachel made her way to the metro station to meet a man she only knew from a meager dating profile description with a tiny picture. When she arrived, she walked right past him on her way to the platform, not realizing the super handsome man she walked by was actually "the guy from online." That first date included beer, bocce ball, lots of laughter and it was obvious (at least to her) that this would be the last 'first' date she would ever have.  A few weeks later on Valentine's Day, John brought Rachel a bouquet of Star Gazer Lilies, which would become her new favorite flower...

Six months later, they moved into their first apartment in Pentagon City and started thinking about what life would be like with a dog, even though they already had two monstrous cats. John wanted a boxer for as long as he could remember so a few months later, a Bogey was born! John cried when she came home.

Everything was going smoothly and the couple enjoyed many adventures in DC and beyond. They love to travel and visited Los Angeles, Mexico, North Carolina, and Hawaii - plus a few impromptu trips to meet "the folks" in New Jersey and Florida! It was finally on that fateful trip to Hawaii that after two wonderful years together, John proposed to Rachel while star gazing on the beach (hence, the star gazer lilies...)

In August 2015, Rachel decided to try something completely different with her life (which John supported wholeheartedly) and her new job took them both to Miami, FL where they currently reside with one less cat (thank you Aunt Sandy!) and Bogey!

Now as we approach the "big day" it seems like it was all a blur but we're so ecstatic we get to keep adding to this story with all of the people who have been around for the "whole ride" and those of you who are new life-long friends. We can't wait to see you on June 18th!

Love,

The Mystery Man at the Train Station & and the Girl Who Fell in Love with Him
